Official Cream Soda

by

Ah Cream Soda, as old as the hills, as nostalgic as candy floss and summer fetes and as sweet as a quarter of penny sweets. Somehow I associate the creation of cream soda as being around the time Sodastream or Soda Pumps were first in use back towards the start of the last century. Of course that could all be completely wrong and most likely heavily historically inaccurate.

Fortunately then, the Cream Soda flavour in question is faithful to my memory of Cream Soda and as a concentrated flavour mixed with water from your Sodastream, this flavour stands up well to the method. Cream Soda is just a taste meant to be home made.

A strong, simple, very sweet caramel taste has the sense to keep a bit of crispness. All the right vanilla notes and a good potential to hold the fizz. Very much up to the standard of cream soda you might buy in a can or bottle.

Definitely nice as a sweet treat at the end of a long day. A little bit of childhood remembered and the need to clean your teeth thoroughly!

I like to put a lot of fizz into this one and slightly underdose on the flavour to keep it on just the right side of refreshment.

You can buy Cream Soda flavour here.

Just thought I would mention that your cream soda tastes really bad, I looked on line to see if it was just me but I found almost everybody agrees, don’t get me wrong I love your products and I am only trying to be helpful. It’s the only one I won’t buy again.

    Yours sincerely,
    Darren Richards

Thanks for your comment Darren. Personally I like SodaStream’s take on Cream Soda – seems fairly authentic to me. A lot of people don’t like the flavour of Cream Soda though – my girlfriend absolutely refuses to drink it if I pour her a glass – so do you think it’s the flavour that is bad in general or SodaStream’s version of it?

Just to be clear, I don’t actually work for SodaStream and they don’t pay me for advertising or anything like that – I’m entirely independent. So hopefully they’ll read your comment on this blog, or you may want to send them a message directly and who knows… maybe they’ll change it. They did recently change their coke flavour following feedback from the public.

I think your version of cream soda is nasty as well. I love every other brand of cream soda, I have ever tried. Its not that I don’t like cream soda, it’s just SodaStreams version. It is a little medicinal with a fizz, not a good combo. I do love my SodaStream and all the other flavors of syrup they make. Just wish they would come up with a better cream soda.

Thanks for the feedback. Given that you are a fellow cream soda enjoyer I’m now peturbed and starting to doubt my memories of this flavour. I reckon the only way to settle this is for me to buy up a few other versions of pre-made cream soda and then to compare them with the new bottle of SodaStream cream soda syrup I have waiting to open in the cupboard. I’ll try to set up a taste test with a few pals and if I don’t label which cup is which let’s see which one they prefer…

By the way, it’s not my cream soda syrup, I don’t make it, I just drink it!

While I am a cream soda fan for many years, I must also voice my displeasure with the sodastream offering. Instead of a creamy vanilla flavor, its an overly “artificial” butterscotch offering. There appears to have no vanilla taste whatsoever. Back to the drawing board with this one.

I too love cream soda generally, and really hate this mix from SodaStream. It just has the worst smell (which I agree with Rockford is a wicked artificial butterscotch) which pretty much ruins the whole experience. So disappointed; this is completely gross.

Glad it wasn’t just me. I thought that I had done something wrong when I made it this morning, but apparently it doesn’t get better. I will try making it with half of the syrup and see if that helps any.

ok – I’m going to agree with Popsicle. Not long got a Soda Stream. have to agree – Cream Soda (especially the sugar free one) brings back the old memories of what cream soda should be – unlike pre-packaged ones that have digressed substantially. And my kids love it too – their favourite.
Nice site by the way, appreciate the advice, etc, especially on the machines.

I love my sodastream and I think all the other flavors taste as good or better than major brands but the cream soda flavor is really gross, cream soda in general is my favorite soda, so I was really disappointed. I gave it to my buddy and he tried it and gave it back thought I was playing a joke on him it was so bad.

Personally i love cream soda, ibc, aw, even generic store kinds; this verision from sodastream put me off for a while(meaning i didnt care for it) but after a few more tries, thinking i goofed, i grew on me and now honestly enjoy it

I bought one bottle of soda stream diet cream soda and it tasted fantastic. SO much that I bought 2 more. One diet and one regular. They taste nothing like the first one. I have to agree with then previous comment about it tasting medicinal. It is nasty. It leaves a bad after taste. Very disappointed as I love cream soda.

  10. Aaron says:

I too thought that the Cream Soda was terrible. But I found that by using 2X the amount of syrup, it tasted like actual cream soda. The problem with this is that, of course , it doubles the cost.

yOU CHANGED THE RECIPE. CREAM SODA USED TO BE GOOD, NOW TASTES LIKE CRAP. WHERE CAN I GET SOME OF THE OLD RECIPE?

  12. Tom W says:

The original Cream Soda in the small square bottles I fell in love with. I recently bought 6 new bottles directly from Soda Stream and they came in the new taller bottles and the taste has changed. I tried adding more of the syrup (thinking that might help) but it didn’t. Now I am stuck with 6 bottles dated good until 2016. Anyone wanting to buy let me know.
